Summersville, WV – “Go big or go home” was the motto David Riddle and Tim Wade lived by on Day 1 of the Marshall Bass Trail Cup. They only weighed four fish, but those four went for 10.13. A “wow” was heard from around the crowd at the weigh-in when this bag hit the scales with only four fish. The duo would also win big bass worth $110 that weighed 2.97.
David and Tim claim their success by getting around the fish quickly this morning.

“We had the first three within the first half hour of the tournament,” Riddle said. “But after we caught those three real fast, it was a struggle.”

Sustained winds of 17mph and gusts of 25 to 30 mph winds today made the fishing good, but yet again just tough to fish. David and Tim are banking on the lower forecasted winds for tomorrow to help them.

“Less wind is going to help us,” Wade said. “We were excited to see the forecast when we came off the water today and it was only showing 5 to 10 mph tomorrow.”

David and Tim have been fishing around West Virginia for a long time, but Wade explains the last two years have been nothing short of a struggle. When asked how he felt about going into Championship Sunday and he said “It feels so good to be sitting where are at right now. The last two years we have been in a huge slump and to finally get back on top amongst a group of fisherman like this feels great,” said Wade. “I know we have a big target on our backs tomorrow, we are just going to go out there tomorrow and have fun with it.”

David and Tim this year have yet to cash a check on the Marshall Bass Trail, but tomorrow regardless of where they finish will get their first check of the year and potentially one of the most valuable titles in West Virginia fishing.
