See the Top Baits from the 2023 Marshall Fishing Cup!
10th Place – Lane Ashley/Tim Ashley (7.60)
The Ashleys banked on a two bait system to find their way to the Top 10.
They utilized an XZone Lures 3.5 inch Swammer in 210 paired on a Megabass Okashira jighead.
Also in their lineup was a Shimano World Minnow Flash Boost Jerkbait in Ghost Ayu.
9th Place – Cody Huddleston/Zach Horrocks (7.94)
While they struggled on Day 2, the 2022 Cup Champions had enough on Day 1 to solidify themselves inside the Top 10.
Their first weapon of choice was a dropshot rig with a Gary Yamamoto Shad Shape worm.
They followed the dropshot up with a 2.8 Keitech Fat Swing Impact in French Pearl.
8th Place – Brenton Davis/Frankie DeLong (10.38)
At 81 years young, Frankie DeLong still competes on the Marshall Super Series.
He used a Bass Pro Shops Crack Craw in Green Pumpkin on a Carolina Rig.
They also used a 304 Lures 4″ Stick in Green Pumpkin on a wacky rig.
7th Place – Mike Samples/Luke Stewart (11.48)
Samples and Stewart are always a threat on Summersville in the Fall. And I can’t believe we got Luke to smile.
Their main bait choice was a 5/32 ounce Keitech Guard Spin Jig in Dark Green Pumpkin paired with a Keitech 3.5 inch Green Pumpkin Swimbait.
A Carolina Rig with a River Rock Custom Baits’ Helgripede was their second choice.
6th Place – Charlie Hanshaw/Jeffrey Hanshaw (12.92)
The Hanshaws kept it simple to land in 6th place.
With just a dropshot rig and Berkley MaxScent 3.6 inch Flatworm in Green Pumpkin.
5th Place – Brian Fitzgerald/Dylan Fitzgerald (13.68)
The Fitzgeralds made use of a legendary bait over the weekend.
They used a 4″ Cabin Creek Baits Salty Lizard in Green Pumpkin on a Carolina Rig.
They also mixed in a Megabass Sleeper Craw in Numa Ebi.
4th Place – Travis Heater/Erick Lipscombe (14.07)
To finish up fourth, Heater and Lipscombe took advantage of a Summersville staple.
They used a 5/32 ounce Keitech Tungsten Guard Spin Jig in Green Pumpkin paired with a 3.5 Keitech Swing Impact Swimbait in Green Pumpkin.
They also tossed a Firecracker Jig paired with a 10,000 Fish Sukoshi Bug in Green Pumpkin.
3rd Place – Sam Nowalk/Ben Nowalk (14.51)
The Nowalk brothers put themselves on the podium yet again at Summersville.
They used a Berkley MaxScent Little General on a Ned Rig jighead.
They also tossed a 3.5″ Gary Yamamoto Yamatunki in Green Pumpkin on a Texas Rig.
2nd Place – Nathan Harper/Luke Long (15.53)
And yes, Luke looks possessed in the last photo but he doesn’t mind with a 2nd place finish.
They used a 3.6 inch Berkley Flatworm in Green Pumpkin Party on a dropshot rig.
Their second choice was a 5/32 ounce Keitech Tungsten Guard Spin Jig in Dark Green Pumpkin.
1st Place – Aaron Hayes/Ben Halcombe (17.70)
Hayes and Halcombe became the fifth different duo to win the Marshall Fishing Cup.
The 2023 Cup Champions relied on one bait to take them to the win. And that was none other than a Zoom Baby Brush Hog in Green Pumpkin on a Carolina Rig.
