The Shimano Curado 150 MGL is a reel that, despite being lightweight, is able to take a beating without any adverse effect. The Curado MGL features a magnum lite spool that offers the ability to cast very light lures without sacrificing line capacity. The reel comes in at only 6.5 oz, so it will not fatigue you throughout the day as a heavier reel may. The Curado MGL also features micromodule gears, so your reel is buttery smooth all day long. This reel is set apart from its competition by its versatility. From throwing a small crankbait to flipping and punching this reel can handle it all.
I have fished over 225 days this year and have tried my best to put this reel through the wringer. I have all three models that this reel has to offer and cannot find a single issue with any of them. I mostly used the 8.1:1 to throw jigs and Texas rigs in timber. Getting fish out of thick cover can be tricky and you need your equipment to be solid. I never even felt like the reel flexed under the pressure that I was able to put on it. It has found its way into my arsenal as a reel that is a “workhorse” and I have confidence that it will get the job done any time I pick it up.
