Ferguson’s Great Outdoors Marine just announced today that their end-of-the-year Championship will pay $5,000 to one winning team on October 2nd. The championship will take place on Stonewall Jackson Lake that recently last weekend saw a weight of over 19 pounds to win.
“This was our first year running our series and we’ve had an absolute blast with it,” Owner Grant Ferguson said. “Our area might have some of the toughest fishing, but I truly believe we have some of the best anglers in the country.”
19 teams are qualified for the championship. This tournament will be closed to qualified competitors only. With a full field of 19 teams, the guaranteed payout for 1st place is $5,000.
“We have met a ton of new people and we are absolutely thrilled to be able to end the season guaranteeing $5,000 to first place,” Ferguson said. “We only had 19 boats qualify, I have never seen better odds to cash a giant check.”
Ferguson’s Great Outdoors Marine held four open tournaments this season which they held a cut of the entry fees to build a championship pot. They kicked off the season on East Lynn back in May and recently wrapped up the regular season on Summersville on Sunday.
To qualify for the championship teams must have fished 3 of 4 open tournaments or win a single event to qualify for the championship. Two teams to take a spot by solely winning were Aaron Hayes and David Halcombe who won Summersville over the weekend. George Smith and Charles Barker also punched their ticket by just winning the Yatesville open.
